Proteas are beautiful and exotic and have been around for 300 million years. Hard to believe, but true. Our proteas may not last for 300 million years in your home but they sure do last a long long time! Enjoy a bouquet of these gorgeous exotic tropical flowers today! We have King Proteas, Mink proteas, pincushion proteas, safari sunset proteas, banksias proteas, and more.

Protea care: Proteas need a substantial vase, deep and somewhat heavy because of the weight of the flowers. Stems can be cut shorter or kept at the original length, but do nip the end of each stem to allow the flowers to absorb water. Other exotic tropical flowers may be added to the arrangement for a variety of looks.

How to dry protea: Properly cared for, proteas stay fresh-looking for weeks. In addition, protea blooms can be dried to create beautiful lasting arrangements.

Remove flowers from their vase

Hang them upside down to air-dry in a dark, well-ventilated place

In 2-3 weeks, their vibrant colors will have softened to dusty pinks and browns

The flowers may now be arranged permanently

An alternate way to dry is to remove the water from the vase and allow to dry naturally as a bouquet.

Protea wreaths are beautiful and vibrant from the start and afterwards when dried make gorgeous dried flower wreaths.
